We have to stop making assumptions to whether people are doing well. Many times we express the sentiment that we hope people are doing good. Although it is meant as a signal of goodwill, it doesn't actually prompt the person or organization to respond. It also makes people assume we are doing well ourselves. By asking “How are you” we can open up the conversation and listen to feedback. This is critical for non-profits to keep a healthy relationship with their donors.
