Should you really use a website developer and designer?
In short, yes, you can redesign your website without using a developer.
Do we recommend that? No.
And, it’s not just because it’s what we do. Well, sort of! Because this is what we do, we know that having your website set up by developers will set you up for future success. Think of it as an investment. Paying a developer may send shockwaves to your budget, but after a few weeks, months, years, things will calm down AND payoff.
Developers know the ins-and-outs of WordPress. They know what works, what doesn’t work, the tricks, etc. They do this every day. You do not. While it costs more than if you were to do this in-house, you would be saving lots of time, and quite frankly, energy.
Think of it this way: if a website developer had to balance a budget and plan the next fundraising campaign, how much time and energy would it cost them? Whereas, you, the professional, would be able to do that with no problem. We understand that Nonprofit employees are already wearing multiple hats, your website should not have to be another.
In addition to saving massive amounts of time and energy, your website would stick out among other like-organizations. WordPress is a simple web platform, but it can do so much for your organization if it is set up the right way.
Designers and developers know how to make your dream website a reality, plus they know how to make your website functional for everyone. If your website is not easy for a user, they will not stay on your website for more than 3 seconds. We want to stress how major this is. You have 3 seconds to impress your audience.
If your budget is really limited and you can’t find space for a designer and developer, we recommend using an existing WordPress theme. Many of these themes are very affordable, some even free. All you need to do is purchase the theme and share it with us and we can handle the rest.
Sites that are set up by a developer have more traffic, more engagement, and higher conversion rates. That’s a fact. According to Review 42, 94% of people cite web design as the main reason for mistrusting or rejecting a website. Don’t fall in that category.
