How to effectively communicate your campaign
We are officially one month into 2022, which means your 2022 campaigns have kicked off. We all have high hopes for what 2022 will bring — more awareness, more constituents, more publicity. In the end, none of this is possible without a successful campaign. You need the funds to be able to do all of this, plus continue doing the great work in your community and beyond.
So, how do you effectively communicate your campaign?
Be clear with your goal
People want to know what is going on, and for the most part, when launching a campaign you have a goal. Share your goal. If you need to raise $1 million for your operating budget, but you’d like to raise $500,000 extra for a special project — share it! There is absolutely no harm, and it also opens up the opportunity to share with your audience halfway through your campaign where you are in your goal.
When there is a number associated with a goal, there comes a surge of donations and excitement. We, as humans, love meeting goals. It creates a great comradery of doing it together, especially when it’s for a great cause.
Tell stories
Study after study shows that storytelling leads to successful fundraising. You would be missing big if you didn’t use this tactic to communicate your campaign. Use recipient stories to tell your services, how it impacted their lives, and how they can help so that others can benefit from these dollars.
Enlist lay leaders/volunteers
The saying “it takes a village” is unbelievably relevant to Nonprofit organizations. We’ve talked about using your current constituents to become advocates for your organization and this is still relevant here. They want to help, and they will help. Ask for help in marketing the campaign, recruit lay leaders and volunteers to help solicit gifts, and use them as an insider. No one knows how well your message and campaign is working better than members of your audience.
These three tactics are the keys to your successful 2022 campaign. More awareness. More constituents. More publicity. More dollars. We would be remiss without mentioning that your website and digital marketing should be in top shape. Creating a good online experience will not only leave a good, trusting feeling in your donor, but they’ll be more inclined to come back. Campaigns happen every year, so building those relationships are essential.
