How long does the Google Ad Grant process take?

On average the Google Ad Grants process takes about 3 weeks. Applying for your grant can get a bit confusing at times. There are certain aspects that are required to be set up before your application can be considered — our exclusive Google Ad Grant Guide gives you step by step instructions with expert tips along the way.

Part One: Setting up G Suite Nonprofit Account

Before applying for your Google Ad Grant, you will need to have an approved Nonprofit Suite account. The G Suite account is where you will access the Google Ad Grant (if approved) Additionally, your organization will also get G Suite Business for free.

To apply for the Nonprofit Suite account, you will need to gather the following information below. It is important to note that once you begin this process, you cannot save and return. Please be sure to have the following items accessible before you begin your application:

  • Official Name of Organization
  • Does your organization have a TechSoup Account? (if so, what is the validation token; looks like 111a222b@Nonprofit123) This is not required but saves steps if you have it
  • Address of your Organization
  • Telephone Number of your Organization
  • Main Email of your Organization (where all updates on the Google Application will go)
  • Website URL
  • An idea of what Category to select for your organization. This is important, a Nonprofit can be denied by selecting healthcare – if they are truly not a healthcare organization but an educational resource for a particular cause.
    • Categories: activities: general; business, professional support; civil rights; conservation, environment, beautification; cultural, historic, related education; employee, membership benefit services; farming, agriculture; health services; housing; instructional training: other; inner city, community engagement; mutual organizations; legislative, political; litigation, legal aid; other; other support for individuals; public opinion advocacy; religious activities; school, college, education; scientific research; sports, recreational, social; and youth services
  • Mission Statement: Usually copied/paraphrased from your website or resources/info known about the organization
  • Organization’s EIN (number provided by IRS)
  • Personal Contact information of one member of your organization – for Tech Soup to verify their identity and association with the nonprofit.
    • Name, Phone Number, Email

Once you’ve gathered this information, you will need to take the following steps:

  1. Go to this website, and click Get Started. You will be asked to Confirm your Google Account (See Below). This should be the Google Account associated with your Nonprofit organization that will be an administrator on the account. If you do not have a Google account associated with your organization you will need to create one.
  2. Answer the prompted questions, like what country your organization is registered in. Note: If you have a TechSoup Account and you can provide the token complete whatever steps follow. This should eliminate many of the next steps.
  3. Verify your TechSoup Account (may not be applicable if you already have an account) by entering in all of the prompted information — address, email, etc.
  4. Select the category most relevant to your mission.
  5. Enter your organization’s EIN number. A representative of the organization needs to verify that they are a member of your organization. You need to provide a name, email, and phone number.

Part Two: The Google Ad Grant Application

  1. The first step is to complete the Ad Grants eligibility form. Access this form by logging into your Google for Nonprofits account (https://www.google.com/nonprofits/).
